IT ETHIC
CODING HORROR
- If you were asked to program this example, would you do it? Why?
If I was asked to code swoopo.com I would reject the offer. It is practically fooling people to place bids on items on which most of the time other users bids. Every bid u make u pay $0.75, small amount isn’t it? How about if 5000 people auctioned for lets say half a day, they earn $3750 from the bids alone, the payment for the auctioned item is not included. They are basically fooling people into online gambline.
2. Is it right to program this example? Why?
Financially speaking it might be a good reason to program this, but as a moral IT student financial is not the best option, ethics should come first. Financially is not a reason to program this. People who program these types of programs are the ones who takes advantage of other people.
I. Is swoopo ethical?
II. Why do people think they save money from swoopo.
III. What can be auctioned at swoopo.
IV. Is it a good way to earn money for the owners of the site?
V. How much is the bidding price?
VI. Do you have to pay for every bid u place?
VII. Do you think swoopo should be categorized under gambling?
VIII. Is swoopo legal?
IX. Do you think they earn more from penny items?
X. Do you think swoopo is immoral?
